Kvng KiLa: Manifesting Destiny

By

Artby   Goodluck Ataria "People see a marital union as 'being held down', but for me, it’s more like 'stepping up to the plate'...."    " W ho is KiLa ?" desperate for answers, a mother spoke in a quizzical tone for the umpteenth time. I couldn't consider her chivvying pointless nor adjudge it the backwash of her paltry understanding of hip-hop culture, which confers upon a participant free rein for inventiveness and coinage rights. Of course, given her son's passionate devotion to the 'tribe', its mores could have been revealed to her – that coinage is a tradition in the performing arts. Besides, not many artists hang on to a legal name. All the same, mama KiLa was worried, and deservedly so.  On another day laced with the appearance of routineness – a busy backdrop; pungent air due to burning refuse; and strange weather conditions that could make one doubt the legitimacy of a good weather forecast the day before – an event gave f...

Wida You Remix— Eddie Roll Makes Strategic Move, Features KaySwitch And Dandizzy.

Eddie Roll Wida You cover "Every day you wan die on top porn site" In 2017 Eddie Roll dropped a street anthem Wida You , a song that dominated everyone's playlist and impacted heavily on the industry. To be fair, he was the year's champion. The incoming year would witness Wida You solidify its reputation as one of the classics, in recent history, to grace the industry. Wida You enriched Eddie Roll —financially and otherwise— and allowed for a smooth introduction of his art to music lovers. But as they say, all good things must come to an end, and Wida You wasn't an exception. As the new year began to unfold, ushering in slow but steady obliteration of Wida You from our music space, as a result of the passing of time, music fans started looking elsewhere for whatever could quench their ungrateful, insatiable appetite. However, a resuscitation plan was in motion. Surprise!...... It's Eddie Roll with another round of Wida You. Makin...

The Chant: KiLa And Mr. Hood Tackle Xenophobia In New Song.

By
Image
Artwork, The Chant: #SayNoToXenophobia. With both rappers in album mode, their latest offer, The Chant: #SayNoToXenophobia , was clearly an unforeseen one. Did I expect a collaboration between Kvng KiLa (who has spent recent moments getting consumed with 03:02:01 [a project he and Mr. Legend collaboratively assembled and is scheduled for release in September]) and Mr. Hood (who has a resembling responsibility to deliver on the 20th of September 2019 as regards Hustle and Flow, the second of impressive body of work under his belt? No, I didn't. And neither did fans of both artists. "Best rap collaboration of the year?" The urge to fixate the above question, on my part, is overwhelming. But with the promise of other hip-hop projects, and maybe a few other collaborations, my take on The Chant: #SayNoToXenophobia can and should be subjected to flexibility. However, the underlying greatness in The Chant: #SayNoToXenophobia is undeniable. Mr. Hood in a recordi...

'Review of "Crown of Clay" by Vector X MI and Pheelz the Producer'

By
Image
Written By Nsikak Ekikor . "Crown of Clay" is a catchy synthesis of a song, narrative and poetic oeuvre which reaffirms the dignity, identity and supremacy of the black race. On its sub-thematic bearing, the song explores the breach of gender dichotomies in contemporary African societies.  On a wider analysis, the smash joint draws its content from two outstanding sources. In the first instance, the literary assertions of the first Generation poets of Negritude cannon of Leopold Sedar Senghor and David Diop influence the Pan-African undertone of the song.  Secondly, the song shares similar philosophical bearing with KvngKila and Mr. Hood's hardcore jam " The Chant ", a song which shows the artistes' lyrical predilections and dexterous penmanship yet exploring the duo's (KiLa and Mr. Hood's) glorification of Africa and its underlying beauties. "Crown of Clay" is a mid-tempo rap collaboration which spins through an impressive duration of fo...

Eddie Roll Eddie Roll in a photo session "Aboy focus that homeboy, we don dey bone since, omor, we no know joy" —EDDIE ROLL: The Introduction. L ong before his induction into the Bayelsa entertainment Hall of Fame, Eddie Roll has always been a powerhouse— maybe not as powerful then, as he is now to the locals. But to the outside world, even far beyond the shores of the Niger Delta, his fragrance had been identified. The name ( Eddie Roll ) had stuck out. B orn Edmond Alaowei Osumawei, the maestro from Peremabiri community of Bayelsa state has not only paid his compulsive dues collected by industry gatekeepers, he has luckily started to witness the likely result of hard work. The smell of success has found its way to his nose, and, from the look of things, he is not snorting — only inhales. It's noteworthy that before his unopposed exploits in Bayelsa, there was an Eddie presence in Port Harcourt, Rivers state. He was, and still is, involved in the c...

By

Yawng Boss source: www.Instagram.com/yawngboss775 Rapper Yawng Boss couldn't hold back his frustration over the delay of his incoming E.P. 'Welcome To Yentown' which was originally scheduled for 1st of April 2019. The rapper has apportioned a certain amount of blames to his colleagues, who he claimed haven't been helpful. Yawng Boss' Post 1 By virtue of his Facebook post, one can deduce that things are not going as planned (at least, for now). The rapper who just dropped the visual of  'Retired Heartbreaker'  (one of the singles of Welcome To Yentown), did also give hints at his inability to have full access to the studio when appropriate, which, consequently has slowed down the album process. Yawng Boss' Post 2 We at Sleek Buzz are not yet armed with full information on this development, yet it's of the utmost importance for us to pray for him; and offer our assistance (whichever way we can). Yawng Boss' menta...
