Tested: Eddie Roll Feeds The Street Once More, Releases New Music

Eddie Roll has a way of connecting with the street (his major audience) and Tested, his latest offering, will support this claim.
The success of former single, Wida You, surely played its part in Eddie Roll's elevated status, the outstanding remix that housed first-class acts such as KaySwitch and Dandizzy is still the toast of the industry.
"The move to have a remix for Wida You was orchestrated by KaySwitch himself", Eddie Roll once said. This alone proves his industry worthiness. Good? Good.

Artistic individuals want to create, it is why they live. Take away their art and you're left with a deadpan fellow. Art to these guys equals freedom to a captive. Good? Good.

Eddie Roll is an artist who has proven his worth over time, his art takes him to unfamiliar territories, but his fluidity makes for easy adjustment, and this time, he's adjusted himself, right in the home of indigenous genre, gyration.
Tested was released online days ago. For die-hard Eddie Roll fans, Tested came too soon, especially in a time when the remixed version of Wida You is still much active. "We haven't finished with Wida You", a fan said.
Technically, a less positive side of having a follow-up is the somewhat initial mediocre acceptance by end users, particularly when the previous supply was of excellent quality. Also, at the moment, Wida You is the zenith of Eddie's impressive career, it's a bar set up high, one Eddie has to reach and surpass if he's to retain the mantle of leadership, interestingly, Tested has been tasked with the responsibility— to keep Eddie Roll at the top.

Tested, in clear comparison with Wida You, holds its own. It's a genuine attempt by Eddie Roll to leave the comfort of Wida You in a bid to own a different building, one of independent architecture.

But is this possible? Maybe. Tested, although different from Wida You in appearance, borrows some valuable elements from the latter. Elements like connectivity, replay value, repetition, 'radio worthiness' and lastly street credibility— these were the factors that allowed Wida You make progress.

On Tested, Eddie makes use of gyration, a very addictive genre that has been exploited by a great many Nigerian acts. In contemporary times, names worthy of mention would include Olamide and Phyno, two acts who have benefited from the resourcefulness of the genre. And just like it didn't fail the aforementioned two, it didn't fail Eddie Roll either.

Few minutes into Tested, the cheerful nature of Eddie Roll is detected. The intro is topnotch: omo aboi, una no know me, una no know me. Una no know us? (crowd) Omo na we oo! Such a stupendous intro.

As the song carries on, and as you hear names of prominent individuals being mentioned, there's this wait for your name (even though you don't want to acknowledge this) but it never happens. You may feel cheated by Eddie's decision to ostracize your name from Tested, however, the important issue here begs the question as to whether you're truly tested.

Tested is an impressive follow-up to Wida You. With ardent push it's likely to do numbers. Tested was produced by Eddie Roll.
