Welcome To Yentown— Five Reasons Why We Want A Yawng Boss Album
Sometime this year..... wait.... I have got the exact date. Let's do this again.
On the 7th of January, 2019 to be precise, I paid the Royal FM 95.5 family one of many casual visits. It was a busy atmosphere. Dr. Fish had left the studio for one of the staff offices, DJ Famous V's countenance reeked of positive vibes as we meet at the studio entrance. It was a familiar setting.
Rev. Prince was inside the studio. DJ Famous V and I, after exchanging unnecessary pleasantries, later walked to the studio. It didn't take long before the music session began. "Today we're playing songs solely by Bayelsan artists," DJ Famous V said.
Damn! These Bayelsan artists are dope.
Damn! These Bayelsan artists are dope.
We had over an hour of uninterrupted supply of genius music from artists on this side before the news highlights were read, and after that, the music session continued.
DJ Famous V was deep into round two when a song caught my attention, prompting me to ask which artist was responsible for it. 'Yawng Boss,' he said. 'Yawng who,' I asked straining my ears due to loud music.
"Wait... Yawng Boss?" I finally got a grip on the name.
"Wow... you mean to tell me YawngBoss is responsible for this fire track?" I could see the exhilaration on Reverend Prince's face as I take out my phone from a pocket and started making a video.
I sent the video the same day to an appreciative Yawng Boss. The song that impelled me to take such an action, to make that video? The song is called '2019 Intro Freestyle (Road To #WTY Album)'.

Now, before my accidental meeting with '2019 Intro Freestyle (Road To #WTY Album)', Yawng Boss was only a terrific rapper in my eyes, but after my experience at Royal FM 95.5, there became added layers of respect for his craft.
This respect prompted an active search for information on the state of Yawng Boss's career. Could there be more from where this came from? And as I skimmed through Yawng Boss's social media pages, I stumbled upon a piece of information that brought me joy. Yes! "There will be an album, I'll get more from where '2019 Intro Freestyle (Road To #WTY Album)' came from," I said to myself.
But my expectation, and that of his fans, would be cut short as Yawng Boss would fail in succession to deliver on his promise of Welcome To Yentown Album. The entertainment industry was depressed. Not only did depression take a toll on the fans and music enthusiasts, it took a toll on Yawng Boss himself.
However, In a series of explanatory posts on Facebook, Yawng Boss would later open up to his fans, giving reasons for the delay of the project. The implication in Yawng Boss's posts was comprehensible— the delay wasn't a fault of his. It never was.

As expected, those in charge of the technical aspect of the project took a huge section of the blame. Plus going by the unfortunate turn of events, and the frail state of Yawng Boss's well-being, the album releasing process was halted. Until further notice.
In the absence of a Welcome To Yentown Project from his mind, Yawng Boss's attention shifted to other worthwhile activities. Besides becoming an enrollee in a reputable media school, Yawng Boss dropped a couple of singles and played important roles in the careers of new acts. But in those moments the possibility of an album was squashed.
We heard nothing about the album.......
Weeks ago, Yawng Boss would, in what was considered a surprising move, announce a date for the release of an album, further investigating revealed the title as Welcome To Yentown. Since he made this announcement, not a day has gone by without a sprinkling of vital information on his social media concerning the album. By the look of things, this time, the album is possible. 16th October, 2019 is the d-day.
And As fans await the release of an album from one of Yentown's obviously recognized acts, and as excitement and anticipation continue to build, The Sleek Buzz has decided to list five exceptional reasons why Yawng Boss needs to drop the Welcome To Yentown album, especially in a time like this.
1. For The Sake Of His Sanity.
Creatives are ever-busy people (yes, they're. It happens internally). On the average, there's a plethora of ideas constantly fighting for space in their head. If an idea is chosen, meditated upon, worked on and properly executed, it contributes positively to a creative's confidence and sense of achievement. However, if an idea, after being focused on, meets doom, it can spell disaster for a creative, both physically and mentally.
Yawng Boss, in the course of unsuccessful results with regard to releasing Welcome To Yentown, possibly would have been hit by stray bullets from the gun of depression. This isn't far-fetched as during his trying times, Yawng Boss mentioned how his mental health had deteriorated. Therefore, the release of the album would doubtless prove curative for one of the city's luminous acts. This has nothing to do with how well the album does when it drops, but has everything to do with his general well-being.
The album drops and he's okay........... First thing first.
2. We Await Good Music On The Project.
Judging by previous releases, it's safe to say Yawng Boss has a penchant for exquisite music. From the nonchalant Loose Weight song to the goal-driven Retired Heartbreaker, and to the cautionary 2019 Intro Freestyle (Road To #WTY Album), Yawng Boss has continued to establish a fact; that his ability at dispensing great artistic material is not serendipitous. He has always given a good account of himself, and we believe Welcome To Yentown will only add graciously to his résumé.
3. The Year Of HIP-HOP.
Hip-hop in Bayelsa has always been a dominating genre, but its relevance and influence across board has reached domineering levels in recent years when compared to previous years when pop/dancehall acts made headlines and had most of the hits. 2019 has rather given the go-ahead for Hip-hop and it's participants to shine. From Payper Corleone who dropped an album, The Fly Gangsta From The 90's and just got the nod from the Headies to Mr. Hood and KiLa who have been consistent all year and each with a forthcoming project, and From Chiff Timz naming his upcoming project Retired Rapper to Funkcleff stealing two spots on Erigga's Erigma ll album, 2019, without a doubt, reserves all right to the tag 'the year of hip hop'.
So it's only appropriate to have one of hip-hop's illustrious sons parkate in this festivity. The date is October 16, the album is Welcome To Yentown, the artist is Yawng Boss.
4. For The Sake Of His Fans.
Earlier, we spoke of Yawg Boss's well-being, however, that of his fans is likewise important. You see, fans are like shadows: When an artist makes a move the fans act in accordance; an artist takes a seat and the fans do the same. This situation also applies in other non-physical activities like decision making.
To cement things, when Yawg Boss failed to deliver on his promise on the release of Welcome To Yentown, he probably was struck with a curse by the god of accountability. But Yawng Boss alone wouldn't go through this ordeal; his fans would share the platform too. They would cry; they would go through emotional turmoil and sleepless nights. These are the intricacies of the partnership: When I (Yawng Boss) am happy you're happy; when sadness and life happen you all are getting a substantial amount of the treatment, in full doses.
Wait.. Guys, the curse can be lifted. The underlying loophole in the deal is this: for the curse to be lifted, and for Yawng Boss to free himself and his fans from the unforgiving hands of the god of accountability, the album has to be put out. Only then will we experience good governance in Bayelsa, only then will Tombia Boys dissociate themselves from criminal behaviors, only then will we experience positivity in our lives.
Yea, October 16 is one date to remember. We are about to experience freedom.
