Chiff Timz's love for his son could not hide. When asked what role his son plays in his life and in that of his artistic journey, he responds in an appreciative manner. He is thankful for life, he is thankful for his audience and he is thankful to whoever has reached out to him with a helping hand. But beyond this thankfulness, Chiff Timz attitude, as it concerns his legacy, is what most are familiar with. It's a force that has remained, helping him stay relevant till this day. 2018 is one year Chiff Timz won't forget in a hurry.  With the roll-outs of Eh Go Better and Caro, Chiff Timz aptly set himself up for the year's glory. Evident of his atypical run, are artiste of the year plaques on his shelve.  The year 2019, although far-spent, offers new and exciting opportunities for Chiff Timz to take, and he seems to be doing that. FRONT: 03:02:01 artwork Earlier on, the Sleek Buzz reported on KiLa and Mr. Legend's collaborative album 03:02:01 : Why it has such a title and other encoded messages it possesses. As once said by KiLa in an interview: "the idea behind 03:02:01 is to foster the spirit of collaboration in the industry. KiLa, on his part, has stayed true to this mission.  The Chant , a song he did with rapper Mr. Hood (who also just released his sophomore project, Hustle & Flow ) pushes further KiLa's Agenda. Also, more recent is KiLa's involvement with Mr. Legend for the latter's new single Savage that dropped days ago. Savage also features one of Bayelsa's stellar/emergent artists, Tobi Rein. BACK: 03:02:01 artwork Speaking further of Mr. Legend , the new kid on the block, his ambitious nature has led him this far. The 13th edition of one of Africa's career-defining award shows has come and gone. Winners have been announced and congratulations have been sent from fans and artistes to them. The event, which is always highly publicized had a shortage of industry big guns as most artistes had other also-important events to grace. For instance, Wizkid had his StayBoy Fest at the O2 Arena, London. StarBoy Fest would be alleged to be responsible for the dearth of stars at the 2019 Headies as Influential acts like Burnaboy, Naira Marley, Tiwa Savage, Reekado Banks, Runtown and more would partake in Starboy Fest. Davido, too, would be absent to witness the birth of his son, Ifeanyi.  Nevertheless, other superstar acts like Payper Corleone , Rema, Wurld, Tacha of Big Brother, Seun Kuti, DJ Cuppy, Teni, Mayorkun, BlaqBonez, Reminisce, Falz and more would make the night a memorable one. As awards would be presented to various acts, Falz would clinch three (3) awards: Best Rap Song Of The...

We humans are social animals. We have been this way since the ancient times. Even in the Bible, God saw the importance of socializing and thus created Eve for Adam and Adam for Eve. In contemporary times, and as the complications of life continue to persist, the need for a sociable man has become more pivotal. This sociability comes with various responsibilities. Truly, the meaning of socialization has drastically expanded. From what was once considered the union of people, socialization, in modern times, has attached other valuable meanings to "itself". One of these expansive meanings encompasses service to humanity, which actually is where Trendi Isaac's ( Endi Ziki)  capacity lies. Endi Ziki, as one who himself once had his back against the world, has chosen to put the needs of others before his. This empathy towards those in less favourable conditions is responsible for Endi Ziki's commendable imprints on African soil. From Botswana to Guine...

Sometime this year..... wait.... I have got the exact date. Let's do this again. On the 7th of January, 2019 to be precise, I paid the Royal FM 95.5 family one of many casual visits. It was a busy atmosphere. Dr. Fish had left the studio for one of the staff offices, DJ Famous V's countenance reeked of positive vibes as we meet at the studio entrance. It was a familiar setting.  Rev. Prince was inside the studio. DJ Famous V and I, after exchanging unnecessary pleasantries, later walked to the studio. It didn't take long before the music session began. " Today we're playing songs solely by Bayelsan artists, " DJ Famous V said. Damn!  These Bayelsan artists are dope.  We had over an hour of uninterrupted supply of genius music from artists on this side before the news highlights were read, and after that, the music session continued. DJ Famous V was deep into round two when a song caught my attention, prompting me to ask which artist was resp...

Niger Delta Giant cover In the wake of Nigeria's 59th Independence Day celebration, Mr. Hood releases Niger Delta Giant (a cover of Burna boy's African Giant). Niger Delta Giant is a song that enforces and explicitly tells the tale of the marginalization of the Niger Delta people in Nigeria, even though the existence of this marginalized group has over time proven to be beneficial to the wellbeing of the most populous black nation on earth. Niger Delta Giant kicks off with an expository introduction as to the alleged circumstances surrounding the death and unceremonious burial of the iconic Ogoni leader, Ken Saro Wiwa. Alter Plate artist, Harrysong, is reportedly in Yenagoa for his King Maker concert which is to hold on the 30th of September, 2019, at Oxbow lake. For awhile, his 'assumed' presence has put the entertainment industry in a frenzy of excitement and speculations. We love it. As preparations for the show continues, the biggest gist of what has been making the rounds is his meeting with artist WallZee and a possible collaboration. WallZee And Harrisong in a recording session. Tested cover art Eddie Roll has a way of connecting with the street (his major audience) and Tested, his latest offering, will support this claim.  The success of former single, Wida You , surely played its part in Eddie Roll's elevated status, the outstanding remix that housed first-class acts such as KaySwitch and Dandizzy is still the toast of the industry. "The move to have a remix for Wida You was orchestrated by KaySwitch himself" , Eddie Roll once said. This alone proves his industry worthiness. Good? Good.  Artistic individuals want to create, it is why they live. Take away their art and you're left with a deadpan fellow. Art to these guys equals freedom to a captive. Good? Good. Eddie Roll is an artist who has proven his worth over time, his art takes him to unfamiliar territories, but his fluidity makes for easy adjustment, and this time, he's adjusted himself, right in the home of indigenous genre, gyration. Tested was relea...

Rapper Payper Corleone has always been the subject of praise. His ability at rapping is incontrovertible. His many grand projects are on the internet, within the reach of inquisitors.  His recent rap feud with rapper Blaqbonez saw him churn out impressive replies (one of which he did within less than 24 hours) to Blaq, after the latter had called him out on a reactionary track, BRIA. Still on his wins, not too long ago, Payper Corleone became the ' target ' of legendary rapper, Mode 9's admiration. All these accomplishments should fuel any creative's desire and help keep them on track, as they press on to greater results. But could the Fly Gangsta From The 90's artist be experiencing a burnout? Has Payper's creative juice run dry? READ:   Rapper, M.I Abaga Endorses Payper, Asks Others To Do Same. Photo shot by Garbi for Lost photos. Location: Akenfa bridge. Mr. Hood 's desire to have his sophomore project released this year is unwavering. From the release of Port Harcourt Boy , a song that traces the circumstantial life of a young lad in a provincial neighborhood, to the release of the thought-provoking Woyi , the end product of these aforementioned releases, as been predicted, would be Hustle And Flow, a mixtape album.   The rapper, who with fellow rapper KiLa only days ago dropped a collaborative song The Chant: #SayNoToXenophobia , took to Facebook to announce the arrival date for Hustle And Flow, 20th October, 2019. Accompanied by this announcement and the artwork for Hustle And Flow, was a note to his fans. It reads...... Artwork, The Chant: #SayNoToXenophobia. With both rappers in album mode, their latest offer, The Chant: #SayNoToXenophobia , was clearly an unforeseen one. Did I expect a collaboration between Kvng KiLa (who has spent recent moments getting consumed with 03:02:01 [a project he and Mr. Legend collaboratively assembled and is scheduled for release in September]) and Mr. Hood (who has a resembling responsibility to deliver on the 20th of September 2019 as regards Hustle and Flow, the second of impressive body of work under his belt? No, I didn't. And neither did fans of both artists. "Best rap collaboration of the year?" The urge to fixate the above question, on my part, is overwhelming. But with the promise of other hip-hop projects, and maybe a few other collaborations, my take on The Chant: #SayNoToXenophobia can and should be subjected to flexibility. However, the underlying greatness in The Chant: #SayNoToXenophobia is undeniable. Mr. Hood in a recordi...

Bayelsan artist StarBlink A.K.A Mr. I dey on things, set out to uncover the impression Bayelsans have of their artists. The artist who recently wowed fans at the just-concluded Odi festival, did this with a question.  "Tell me one thing you like about Bayelsan musicians, and tell me one thing you hate about us. Be sincere". He posted on his Facebook.  At the time of putting this piece together, that call for a needful discussion has raked in over two hundred and fifty-seven (257) engagement (both from comments and reactions), with fans giving opinions of varying degrees. In the midst of 'Bayelsan artists are hardworking ' and 'Bayelsan artists make music because of its perceived influential role as regards getting the females' love', some belief stayed prevalent. Pride? Fearfulness? (especially when it comes to exploring other spaces). Love? Hatred? All of these and more were standpoints of which the discussion took shape. "M...

Chiff Timz has chosen to partake in Davido's 'Blow My Mind' challenge, with the hope of winning the ultimate prize. Interestly, winning the ultimate prize may not conjure up the wholeness of his clearly-defined work ethic. But what happens behind closed doors, to an extent, will. What transpires behind the scenes supersedes the likely end product. It's a cause and effect phenomenon. Great achievements are only the upshot of thorough, unbroken practices. According to first-hand information, Chiff Timz got to work immediately the instrumental for Blow My Mind reached him, and within an hour or two the song, with a video to match, had been made available to the public.
